From researching you can tell and complete other tasks set, for example from researching the market you can cancel any previous ideas to relevant to an existing ones and can improve other ideas further. There are different types of research, which is primary research, secondary research, and existing products. Primary research is research that you have done yourself, for example giving out questionnaires relevant to the topic and interviewing people of the subject with questions and answers relevant. Secondary research is research that is someone else’s, for example-taking information from the Internet, books, magazines and newspapers. Existing products is products that have already been made and that you see it as an example to help you with your own work. You can use that idea and change it into your own. Researching the market is important because you need to make sure that you do not steal ideas and name it your own. (Copyright). Also collecting a wide range of ideas, which can help you develop other ideas of your own. Carrying out market research helps you to gather information needed for your documentary, information that can help you to continue with an idea. For example the target audience, without the target audience you then cannot see what can and cannot be included within the documentary. The genre, without a genre you cannot start the script in case it does not suit the genre chosen later on. The music, without music you cannot give a feeling to the viewers. Also you cannot involve people in the documentary without knowing what ages and personalities are needed. Without the market research nothing can start because without the basic idea and information, progress cannot begin.
